Dakota Week 5 - One Month Old!

This week Dakota turned one month old.  Hard to believe that she has been with us that long already.  Seems like just yesterday that Momma and Daddy were bringing her home.  Momma had a bit funny idea of how to celebrate a birthday - because we found ourselves at our Pedi's office for Dakota's wellness check up.  Our little one is 9pds 9oz and 22 inches long.  She has done quite a bit of growing.  Here are some pictures of her to mark the day!

Dakota Week 4 - Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice

This week Sierra really started to interact with Dakota a lot.  I think she has figured out that Dakota is really just another little person like us.  Sierra makes sure that Momma keeps the binki and anything else that Dakota might need nearby.
Sierra is learning the difference between how hard you can pet Tazz, verses your baby sister...  Momma says that is an important lesson =+)
Dakota is already starting to achieve milestones beyond her age.  She surprised Momma this week by tracking the toys on her mobile as they moved around.  Our Pedi said that was a two month skill.
She is also working on her core body strength with a bit of belly time.  Dakota likes belly time better than I did, but no where near as much as Sierra did.
Also, Momma noticed that those cute little baby checks are beginning to develop on our sweet Dakota.  Seems that all that weight she lost in the hospital has made it back!
Finally Dakota has found her happy sounds.  Though we seem to be fighting a bit of reflux, that has not held my baby sister back.  She is smiling and starting to make cooing type sounds when we play.
Speaking of smiles... Momma snapped these two glamour shots of Sierra this week that I thought you guys would just love.  You can really see what a beauty my little sister is going to grow up into...

And Momma could not help but notice (with Daddy's persistent help!) that Sierra's bangs had gotten way too long... so with one snip of the scissors Sierra had her first hair cut.  For those of you who have ever cut their own hair and immediately regretted, Momma breathed a big sigh of relief when she saw she had done a decent job...

Dakota - Week 3 Family Time

This week has been all about family time.  We spent a lot of time this week playing with Dakota and helping her to settle into our family.
Additionally Nanny wrapped up her visit and headed home to VA to get ready for her cruise.
And later in the week GiGi and PopPop came to meet Dakota.
And to get a little Connor love...
Not to mention to have a little dance party!
We also took Dakota on her first outing to the park.
She slept while Sierra and I had a blast.  Momma and Daddy are both proud and scared to death because Sierra can now climb up onto the big kid play structure all on her own.  Watch out everyone!
But my favorite climbing structure remains Daddy!

Dakota - Week 2 One Week Old

Dakota turned one week old at the start of this week.  Momma wanted to celebrate by having Dakota's first photo session.  Momma thought she was all set when Daddy and Grandma took Sierra and I to the basement for a play session.  But some juicy toots sent us back up stairs and Momma quickly realized that Dakota was going to have a much different family experience than either Sierra or I did to date... Our little sister is going to receive a lot of family love and involvement.  See below for just what I mean...
 Sierra snuggles Dakota!
Dakota and I have our first little chat!
Tazz keeps watch
And cleans up as needed!
Our little sister.
Can you believe all that fabulous hair?  Momma says it feels as soft as the very plush stuffed animals that are in the stores these days!
With bit of help - here are the Foy kids of NJ.  Good luck to Momma getting us all to be in one place and SMILE for a picture...
On a milestone note, Dakota had her first bath at home this week.  Seems she likes them just about as much as Connor did...
Sierra seems to be the only water baby in this family!
But I'm learning...
And on a side note - a special thanks to Grandma for helping Momma and Daddy make it through Dakota's first week.  It was great fun having her with us.  "All aboard on the Foy Express to Kitchen Station!"

Dakota - Week 1 Part II - Welcome Home

After 4 days in the hospital Momma decided it was time for her and Dakota to come home.  Sierra and I couldn't contain our excitement and waited by the window for their arrival.  (A special thanks to Grandma for staying with us all week and helping when Dakota came home!).
Sierra checked out Dakota while she was still in her car seat.  Sierra than insisted that Momma and Daddy take her out, so that we could say hi properly.
Then it was times for hugs and snuggles on the couch.  Momma was a bit worn out but managed to smile for the camera and hold us all nice and tight.  It was great to have her home again!
Tazz welcomed Dakota with nice snuffles and sniffs.  She told me she was excited for another round of baby spit up.  She tells me mine was the best!
Then the big moment arrived - it was my turn to hold Dakota.  Momma said I did a great job.  Even Dakota seemed to agree - what do you think?
Welcome to the family little one.  We are so excited that you are here!  You are my wish come true...

Dakota - Week 1 - Welcome New Baby

On Feb. 24th just before 2pm Dakota Jade Foy was born.  My new baby weighed 7pds 6 oz and was 20 inches long.  So she is the biggest and tallest of all of Momma's babies (Tazz excluded).  I am so excited that my wish for the new baby came true!  Please meet Dakota.
For those of you who are wondering how Dakota came by her name, here is the story.  Momma and Daddy were having a heck of a time agreeing on a name.  The had narrowed the list down to 9 names and then independently ordered them.  Momma had Cayenne on top, Daddy had Brianna...  Momma's top choices were Daddy's last picks and vice versa.  So one night Momma asked me what the new baby's name would be.  I said "Friend".  As they say, from the mouths' of babe's... so Momma looked up names that meant friend.  She came across Dakota - which means the Friends or Allies.  She shared it with Daddy and they both agreed it was a great name.  So that is how my new baby sister came to be Dakota.

February 2011 (Pre-New Baby) - First Library Book and the Winigs Come to Play

Happily this month Daddy is encouraging Sierra to drop her first nap, so that she is down to just one a day.  This means that our mornings are now free for activities outside of the house - Whoopie!!!!  We started this new pattern with a trip back to story time at the library.  Though the kids have changed a bit, Ms. Cindy is still there as fun as ever.  On this trip Daddy suggested I pick out a book to check out and take home with us.  So I did.  My first library book - it was a funny one!
Throughout the rest of the month we had visits from Grandma, Gigi/PopPop and Nanny/Bobby.  But you can tell that Momma was really slowing down as she didn't manage to take a single picture during the visits.  Do you think the new baby had something to do with that?

But just before the new baby came, Momma rallied during the Winig's visit.  Uncle Steve, Aunt Sarah, Megan and Rachel all came to play with Sierra and I.  I worked them hard - with scooter races around the house (inside and out), bed jumping and log rolling - it was a great time!  I hope they come back soon.  See below for just how much crazy 4 kids can have together!
